4 Reasons to Get Teeth Pulled

The teeth in our mouths serve a very great purpose. Without our teeth, we could not eat or even talk. For this reason, it is outrageously important that our teeth are taken care of. We start brushing our teeth at a very young age, even though all of those teeth will fall out eventually, to make sure that our mouths are always healthy.

Sometimes, our teeth are not so healthy, and they need to be pulled. Removing your tooth or even several teeth is never fun, but you are not the only one. Over 3 million people have dental implants, and that number is increasing by 500,000 people every year. Tooth removal occurs for many reasons, and here are four that are fairly common.

Decay or Trauma

When teeth decay, the dentist will usually attempt to fix the problem first with a filling or a crown. Sometimes, though, the decay is too great and the tooth needs to be pulled. Trauma happens, for example, when you fall and crack a tooth to the point beyond repair. The tooth will probably need to be pulled and an implant will replace it.

Over Crowding

Over crowding is simply when there are too many teeth in one area of the mouth. When over crowding occurs, your teeth cannot properly align themselves. Even with corrective action like braces, there may not be enough room for your teeth to straighten. In this case, removing your tooth is probably the best option.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are probably the most common tooth/teeth that need removal from one’s mouth. Millions of people get their wisdom teeth removed every year. When the teeth start to come in, often times they go awry and cause problems. They can become impacted and cause damage to the other molars in the back of the mouth. They also can be very painful. When this happens, they need to be taken out.

A Weak Immune System

Believe it or not, having a compromised immune system can impact your teeth. If an infection occurs, the risk of the infection growing or becoming seriously dangerous grow significantly when the immune system does not work the way that it should. This tooth would need to be removed.

Sometimes, our teeth have seen better days, and they need to be removed. Removing your tooth is okay because dental implants are available to bring your mouth back to life. Contact us today if you think that you may need this kind of dental work.
